Learning to RECEIVE God’s Blessings!

One of the FAM Fellowship members posted the following Heart To Heart message on the ladies’ private site yesterday, which I want to share here; because though very simple; it’s a very powerful message about how to RECEIVE the blessings of God in our lives. And it reminded me of what Jesus said in Matthew 9:29, which says Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith will it be done to you”;. And then it’s confirmed again in 1 John 2:5, which says But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him:. So, as 2 Thessalonians 3:5 says May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. Be blessed and encouraged!

Blessings – by Tammy

I received the following from In Touch Ministries about blessings and wanted to pass it along; I hope we’re all encouraged to let our light shine and be a blessing, because we can either stand in the light of Jesus or stand in the shadow of our mountains.

From In Touch Ministries – Dr. Charles Stanley:

“What determines the measure of God’s blessing in your life? Does He bless you a little or a lot? In Genesis 12:2, God says to Abraham, “I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you.” When God speaks of blessing someone, He says “I’m going to intervene, and act in such a way that My goodness is displayed in your life.” God intends to bless all His children. How much of that blessing you receive is up to you. You will receive the full measure of God’s blessing in your life only if you are prepared, and you can prepare by doing five things:

1. Recognize that God is the source of everything. Some of God’s blessings come through pain and disappointment. Focus on what God is up to in your life in all circumstances.

2. Listen to God. When you wake up in the morning, tune your heart to listen, and listen carefully. God is the source of direction and guidance. If you don’t listen, how will you know the will of God for your life?

3. Not only must you listen, but you must obey. You will not experience the full measure of His blessing if you act in disobedience. Once you truly believe that God’s choices are best, you will walk in obedience.

4. Start every day expecting God’s blessing in your life. Anticipate Him intervening in your life is some way that will help you succeed in whatever you’re doing. Trust and believe God for His best for you. Except it.

5. The measure of blessing you receive will be determined by the measure you give toward others. Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it shall be given to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together.” Each day look for opportunities to be a blessing in the lives of others.

When your focus is right, when you’re listening, when you’re being obedient, when you’re expecting God’s blessing, and when you’re blessing others, then you are prepared for blessings beyond measure.”
