Fireproof Your Marriage

Faith And Marriage Ministries (FAMM) is really excited to announce that we’re partnering up with Provident Films to help promote the movie FIREPROOF, which will be opening in theatres around the country on September 26th. This is such an exciting event and opportunity for everyone dedicated to promoting and standing for God’s Holy covenant of marriage, because we truly expect God to use this movie to inspire and encourage hundreds, if not thousands of men and women to consider the miracle of marriage restoration instead of the devastation of divorce.

FIREPROOF stars Kirk Cameron and it’s about a firefighter whose wife wants a divorce, and very accurately depicts many of the issues frequently encountered when marital problems arise. Since FIREPROOF also illustrates many of the biblical principles of faith and marriage restoration, this might well be the first or only opportunity for thousands, if not millions of movie goers to hear the plan of salvation and that their marriages can be saved because with God, marriage restoration is possible. You can watch the movie trailer by clicking on the above FIREPROOF graphic.

Since we know FIREPROOF has such great potential to be a powerful instrument promoting marriage restoration, FAMM wants to do all we can to encourage visitors to our site and as many others as possible to go see the movie on opening weekend, because that’s the only way to insure that it will be introduced to additional markets. As most movie goers know, a movie’s success is virtually determined the first weekend it opens, so we want to do all we can to make sure FIREPROOF has a very strong opening weekend. And to that end, FAMM is encouraging men and women standing for marriage restoration to go see FIREPROOF on opening weekend and to get as many people as possible to go along. We’d also like to suggest showing support for our local fire fighters by purchasing tickets and donating them to local fire departments, especially since the divorce rate among fire fighters is one of the highest in the United States.

You can click here to see where FIREPROOF is showing near you and join FAM Fellowship members and others in taking a stand for God’s Holy covenant of marriage by attending the movie and encouraging others to do so as well.

If you’re currently experiencing trouble in your marriage, or are already separated, and even divorced, and need support and encouragement as you stand on the power and promise of God’s Word for the full and complete restoration of your marriage and family, please prayerfully consider joining our FAM family by becoming a FAM Fellowship member, where you will find life changing and VERY REAL AND PERSONAL guidance and support. The ONLY way to be assured of getting God’s results is to DO things God’s way; but there are very few places and opportunities to grow in our understanding of what the Bible teaches about the biblical roles of husbands and wives. So that’s what FAMM focuses on doing as we stand together for marriage restoration and the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! And even though all of our members ended up where we did because we did things the way of the world and got the world’s results (separation and divorce), we’ve also been greatly blessed and encouraged to witness the restored marriages of many men and women as they took place and continue to take place before our very eyes! AND THAT’S ENCOURAGING! You can learn a lot about overcoming marital problems with this Online Marriage Help, and we’re here to partner with you as you learn to fireproof your marriage by learning to become the husband or wife God created and intended you to be. And our experience proves that when you learn to walk according to His Word, you will be blessed and encouraged beyond anything you could ever ask or imagine!

One Amazing Weekend at the Movies!
You did it! You made FIREPROOF the No. 4 overall movie in America this past weekend! In fact, if you look at per-screen average (and Hollywood does), you made FIREPROOF the second-leading per-screen film this weekend. You puzzled Hollywood pundits and prognosticators. You boggled movie-based bloggers. You showed the movie industry that there not only is interest in good, wholesome films, but there is also an audience for them. You made an impact. And in case you’re wondering, people noticed.

This is what USA Today said:
“The surprise of the weekend, though, was the Christian-themed Fireproof. Made for $500,000 and released on 839 screens, the Kirk Cameron drama did $6.5 million and took fourth place. “Most analysts did not expect the film to crack the top 10, yet it enjoyed the second-largest debut this year for a film opening on fewer than 1,000 screens; the biggest was Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour, which debuted to $31 million on 683 screens.”

After winning the championship game in Facing the Giants, Coach Grant Taylor asks the members of his football team, “What is impossible with God?” To a player, they all answered: “Nothing.”

Thank you for your overwhelming support FIREPROOF on opening weekend!

Marriage Matters
Perhaps the most amazing part of the movie’s opening weekend are the stories we are hearing about marriages being impacted by the story in FIREPROOF. Hundreds of people posted their stories at, including Becca:
“Wow, this movie really hit home. Both my husband and I are on the fire department in our town. We have been going through some problems of our own in our relationship. Catherine and Caleb’s relationship was somewhat similar to ours, and after watching the movie and seeing that others can make it through the same problems and not give up, it restored my faith in God and restored my faith that my relationship will be able to stand the test of time with God’s help.”

This is a movie that has touched hearts and challenged couples (and singles) to think through what they want their marriages (or future marriages) to mean. At the heart of the success of FIREPROOF is a desire to have God-honoring marriages.

We are so grateful for each and every marriage and family ministry that partnered with FIREPROOF. From nationally known ministries like FamilyLife and Focus on the Family, to ministries that support and partner with other ministries (such as AMFM, Marriage CoMission, and WinShape), the support has been tremendous. Ministries that serve on the local level at churches and in communities are there to support you if this movie has challenged you to make a difference in your marriage.

We are also glad there are resources like The Love Dare, curriculum kits, and other tools from organizations like B&H Publishing, Outreach, Thomas Nelson, and CLC Publications. Be sure to check them out for you or a friend.

FIREPROOF Remains in Top 10!
After two weekends in theaters across the country, FIREPROOF has done incredibly well at the box office. Despite seven new movies opening in wide release this past weekend, FIREPROOF was still the No. 8 movie in the nation, with the sixth-best per-screen average. In just 10 days in theaters, FIREPROOF has surpassed what Facing the Giants did in four months. Thank you doesn’t seem to be nearly enough to say for your support and passion for this movie about a firefighter, his wife … and a marriage worth rescuing.

It’s a movie that’s making a difference … because it’s different.
“This movie is wonderful! I took my 10-year-old daughter and she sat transfixed. Please make more movies like this. We walked past so many awful movies in the hallway on the way to FIREPROOF and we are glad we did. It really makes you realize how few movies like this there are out there. The whole theater cheered.”

Facing Off Against Hollywood
For a week, Hollywood and the media elite took notice of FIREPROOF. Stories on ABC News, the New York Times, and Time Magazine told of a church making movies and people of faith stepping up and supporting a film that they could believe in.

Now, much of the media is talking about a movie that opened this past weekend that mocks religion, people of faith, and, yes, God. As the movie states: “Religion is detrimental to the progress of society.” (And that’s one of the less-incendiary comments.) Needless-to-say, the film received all kinds of positive reviews … and it had an incredibly high per-screen average.

So, in the same theaters, there is a movie that tells a wonderful story about God’s design for marriage: Never leave your partner behind. And there’s a movie that espouses that there is no God. What type of movie would you rather see? There is a short window of time available for you to vote with your feet. As “All About Him” posted on the blog:
“I am amazed at the work that God is doing through this movie. My husband and I went to see the movie last weekend, and I don’t think that there was a man or a woman who left without tears in their eyes. I am encouraging friends and co-workers to go see this movie. It’s the real deal and has a message that America needs to hear.”

There’s Still An Audience Waiting to Be Touched
Approximately 1.8 million people have seen FIREPROOF in theaters thus far. That’s an incredible number of people. According to the U.S. Census, there are more than 300 million people in this country. That means there are an even more incredible number of married couples, people that have been married, people that are working toward marriage, and people that would like to be married someday that could benefit from seeing FIREPROOF. Consider taking some of those people with you. FIREPROOF is a movie that you can see time and time again … each time with friends on your arms. Here’s what Holly posted on the FIREPROOF Blog:
“My husband and I went to see FIREPROOF on the opening night and enjoyed it so much! We took friends to see it the next Friday night. We are planning to take another couple this Friday night. We have NEVER paid to see a movie at the theater more than once. FIREPROOF is excellent! … We are doing our part to encourage every couple to make a date and go see this movie.”

Isn’t it time to respond to Hollywood in the only way they understand?
