Sharing Another Powerful and Timely Message from Dr. Stanley

I was so excited and appreciative when I heard Charles Stanley’s message last weekend, which was Trembling at God’s Word! It was a perfect follow up to the Bible study we’d had most recently, which was about how vitally important it is to STAY in God’s Word! So I want to encourage everyone to watch the message linked to above, as well as to share my notes for our last Bible study, which are included below. There really is no more important message for any of us, especially in the times we live, than understanding the importance of knowing and obeying God’s Word as we put our trust in Him to bring it all to pass! So be blessed and encouraged in the Lord!

Why It’s So Vitally Important To STAY In God’s word

God Gave His Word To Guide, Direct, Equip & Encourage Us:
2 Peter 1:20-21 (NASB):
20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation,
21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NASB):
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

Joshua 1:8 (NASB):
This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.

Romans 15:4 (NASB):
For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Psalm 119:105 (NASB):
Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Our Very Existance Requires Dependence On God’s Word:
Deuteronomy 8:3 (NASB):
He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord .

Matthew 4:4 (NASB):
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”

What We Do With God’s Word Is So Important Because The Word Is God/Jesus:
John 1:1 (NASB):
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 (NASB):
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

So God Is Revealed Through His word:
Jeremiah 29:13 (NASB):
You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Romans 10:17(NASB):
So faith comes from hearing, and Hearing by the word of Christ.

God’s Blessings Flow Through Obedience To His Word:
John 15:7 (NASB):
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

James 1:19-25 (NASB):
19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;
20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.
21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.
22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;
24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.
25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

Proverbs 4:20-22 (NASB):
20 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart.
22 For they are life to those who find them And health to all their body.

Psalm 119:9-11 (NASB):
9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word.
10 With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments.
11 Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You.

John 8:31-32 (NASB):
31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word,
Then you are truly disciples of Mine;
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

Jesus Even Said We Shouldn’t Call Him Lord If We Don’t Obey His Word:
Luke 6:46 (NASB):
“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?

And Disobedience Hinders Our Prayers:
Proberbs 28:9 (NASB):
He who turns away his ear from listening to the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.

God’s Word Is The ONLY Truth:
John 17:17 (NASB):
Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.

Proverbs 30:5 (NASB):
Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.

And God’s Word Never Fails, Changes Or Becomes Irrelevant:
Isaiah 55:10-11 (NASB):
10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

Isaiah 46:10-11 (NASB):
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’;
11 Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man of My purpose from a far country. Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned it, surely I will do it.

Matthew 24:35 (NASB):
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

Isaiah 40:8 (NASB):
The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.
