Getting God’s Results, Which IS ALWAYS Marriage Restoration

When we’re standing for the restoration of our marriages, there’s ONLY one certain way to get God’s results, and that’s to DO things God’s way. But when we don’t do things God’s way, and choose instead to rely on our own understanding and the ability and power of our own mind and flesh, and the way of the world, we will get the world’s results, which is divorce and the total and complete devastation and destruction of our marriages and families. And since none of us naturally know HOW to stand for our marriages, it’s very important to seek godly counsel and instruction, and to totally avoid any advice or counsel that is not grounded and verified in the Word of God. The Bible makes that very clear, and here are just a few verses demonstrating just how vitally important it really is:

Psalm 1:1-6
The Way of the Righteous and the End of the Ungodly
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Isaiah 28:29
All this also comes from the LORD Almighty, wonderful in counsel and magnificent in wisdom.

Isaiah 47:13-14
All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. Here are no coals to warm anyone; here is no fire to sit by.

Proverbs 14:12
There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Luke 6:46-49
The Wise and Foolish Builders
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.
But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

So when we’re serious about marriage restoration, we can’t afford to listen to and follow our own deceitful hearts, which Jeremiah 17:9 tells us are beyond cure, so we have to study and understand the Word of God instead and heed wise and sound biblical counsel; putting it into practice. So when we receive advice and counsel from others, we need to make certain that it is in full accordance with the Word of God because anything else will not lead us to the end result we seek. But we CAN and WILL get God’s results by DOING things HIS way!

So we are truly blessed to have access to the counsel of those who teach according to God’s written Word, such as the following messages one of the FAM fellowship members brought to our attention from the Focus on the Family radio broadcasts this past Monday and Tuesday, which I encourage everyone to listen to for encouragement and more godly counsel:
Letting God Mend Your Marriage – Part 1
Letting God Mend Your Marriage – Part 2

When we rely on the power and promise of God’s Word, He will “mend” our hearts and marriages, and we will truly be blessed and encouraged as we witness the full and complete restoration of our marriages and families, which is ALWAYS God’s result!
